On World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10th) a massive shout out to Sharon Burke of the James Burke Foundation and her band of helpers to create a very poignant event at Park Square in Leeds.
Ninety sets of clothes were placed on the grass to signify the 90 people who have taken their own lives in the past 12 months in Leeds. The figures of 66 males and 24 females were someones brother, sister, father, mother, son, daughter or partner. The event brought many tears and plenty of discussions and support.
A big thank you to Leeds City Councillors Sharon Hamilton. Abigail Marshall Katung and Kevin Ritchie for taking the time to be involved and supporting the event.
